FREE CONCERTS
Each evening, the Celtic College instructors will perform on the Courthouse Park Performance Stage from August 1st - 4th.
These shows are FREE for everyone to attend. Limited fixed seating is available but feel free to bring your own lawn chairs and blankets. If the weather doesn’t work in our favour - we will move the concerts to the Livery Theatre.

FREE CRAFT WORKSHOPS

SIGN UP: Sign up sheets for that day’s workshops will be posted at the Craft Workshop Tent (opposite the Beer Garden) by noon. Write your name to reserve your place. If you can no longer attend, we encourage you to strike your name out so that another person can sign up.
SATURDAY
Bodhrán Brush Tippers
Saturday, 1:00 – 2:00pm with Les Starkey
In this workshop Bodhran players, supporters and family will learn how to fashion their own Brush Tipper also known as a " HotRod" using readily available materials. Easy to do at the kitchen table, you can experiment with various parameters like length and thickness as well as adding your own creative crafting touch.
Rug Hooking Basics
Saturday, 2:15 – 3:15pm with Karen Light
Students will learn the basics of rug-hooking, a traditional skill very popular in the Maritimes. Each will hook a small piece using wool, yarn, and a pattern that Karen will supply.
Wirework “Tree of Life” Pendants
Saturday, 3:30 – 4:30pm with Laura Billson ● Fee: $10/student
Make your own Tree of Life or Bonsai out of wire and beads into a beautiful pendant! This workshop will feature a selection of beads and wire types for attendees to select from. We will be using the additive method of tree making where you start with the beads as leaves and combine down to the trunk. Attendees will learn how to make leaf bundles, combine them into a trunk, and how to thicken a truck a junction points. If there is time, Celtic knotting of roofs will be shown prior to attaching to the pendant frame as an advanced method.
SUNDAY
Celtic Interlace Patterns
Sunday, 1:00 – 2:00pm with Jason Bellchamber
Learn how to draw three fundamental Celtic interlace patterns with jewelry designer and silversmith Jason Bellchamber. Jason will teach you how to draw a Triskele, a Triquetra, and a difficult (but beautiful!) Triquetra interlace pattern.
All About Violin Repairs
Sunday, 2:15 – 3:15pm with Philippe Elsworthy
Bring an old or spare violin. In this workshop, we will discuss common ailments of violins, and where practical, we can tackle some repairs or adjustments. Phil will bring some tools and a few materials.
Fairy Wreaths and Goddess Headdresses
Sunday, 3:30 – 4:30pm with Lisa Marcus ● Fee: $15/student
Learn to make a one-of-a-kind headdress to wear during the festival or for a special occasion. We will use dried & silk flowers, leaves, feathers, pinecones & sparkly bits and hot glue guns to make our beautiful pieces. This will be a great addition to your Celtic or medieval attire.
